Awesome Nuclear is a curated list of open-source projects used in nuclear science and engineering, kept as a single README on GitHub. It groups codes for particle transport, nuclear data, depletion and activation, kinetics, fuel cycle, thermal hydraulics and multiphysics, and closes with research groups that invest in open tools.

The Morton Labs Simulation Library started from this list. We reviewed the entries, chose an initial set relevant to fusion engineering questions, and wrote our own descriptions; the list itself remains the work of its curator and contributors.

Scope

The collection spans fission and fusion and is strongest in transport, nuclear data, thermal hydraulics and multiphysics. It is not a comprehensive directory of fusion plasma or inertial-confinement simulation codes, so those domains are covered separately in the library. A small number of upstream entries are not listed on this page; the original repository holds the complete list.

Curator

The list lives under his GitHub account and he authored 74 of its commits; ten other accounts contributed between one and seven changes each. The README carries no explicit curator line, so the credit rests on ownership and history.

Entries, as grouped upstream

Links go to each project's own home. Entries with a Morton Labs page link there first. Every project is credited to its own team under its own licence; being listed does not mean the curator authored, maintains or endorses it.
