JADE.
JADE is an open-source Python framework that automates verification and validation of nuclear data libraries and transport codes: it builds benchmark inputs for each library and code combination, runs them, parses the outputs into a code-independent form, and produces comparison tables and plot atlases so libraries or codes can be checked against each other and against experiment. It drives MCNP, OpenMC and Serpent, plus shutdown-dose and activation variants.
- How do leakage, heating, tritium production and damage in fusion-relevant materials change when switching from one evaluated nuclear data library to another?
- Does a given transport code and library reproduce measured 14 MeV shielding and activation benchmarks within experimental uncertainty?
- Do MCNP and OpenMC give consistent answers for the same benchmark with the same data?
- Nuclear data library verification and validation, isotope by isotope
- Transport code cross-verification on identical benchmarks
- Leakage spectra, heating, tritium and helium production, displacement damage
- Shutdown dose rate through D1S variants; activation through ACTINV
- Comparison tables and plot atlases
Limitations
Ships no transport code or nuclear data; users install and licence MCNP, OpenMC, Serpent or others separately, and only MCNP is supported on Windows. Several experimental benchmark inputs live in a private Fusion for Energy repository that needs a token, and one post-processing dependency is a commercial package. Licence metadata is inconsistent between the LICENSE file and the PyPI classifier.
Explicitly fusion-oriented: created by Fusion for Energy with NIER and the University of Bologna and now co-developed with UKAEA, with computational benchmarks built around ITER models and 14 MeV sources and experimental benchmarks dominated by fusion-neutronics experiments. It also carries some general shielding benchmarks.
No reference workflow documents this tool yet. Its evidence status is “Listed”: A reviewed catalog entry with upstream links.
Developed by Started by NIER, the University of Bologna and Fusion for Energy (F4E); development now carried mainly by F4E and the UK Atomic Energy Authority. No individual profiles are published for this project yet.
